The romance was kept under wraps until Carey showed up at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26 sporting an enormous engagement ring. Days later the couple were married at Carey's private estate in the Bahamas.
Paul Abdul gained 427% after her latest American Idol blunder. Abdul apparently was confused when series' producers decided to change the judging format from the usual evaluation of each contestant after singing to waiting until all five singers finished performing. When asked to review the first performance of Jason Castro, Abdul gave her opinions on two performances, even though each contestant had only sung one song. Fellow judge Simon Cowell also admitted the switch had been difficult, stating, "This was officially the strangest show we've ever done, but I like that. It's kind of a bit chaotic tonight."
