One To Watch: Sophie Dahl Looking for the next big supermodel? Perhaps you should look past the small supermodels and check out rising star Sophie Dahl. The 23-year-old Brit has been climbing our search logs over the past few weeks thanks to a controversial European advertisement for Yves Saint Laurent?s Opium perfume. The posters, which featured a tasteful nude portrait of Dahl, have caused quite a stir in England, where the Advertising Standards Authority pulled them from public view. Dahl is the granddaughter of the children's writer Roald Dahl, famous for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. More importantly, she follows in the footsteps of such models as Anna Nicole Smith and Emme thanks to her voluptuous measurements. While most fashion models are waifs, Dahl is a size 14, with 40-30-40 measurements. "Fashion should be about making clothes that make all women look beautiful, not making women starve so that they can fit in a size 8," Dahl has said in interviews. "I couldn't do it, I really couldn't be that size. I like eating too much." Dahl is hoping to have her fame cross over to the United States soon. She moved to New York last fall, and is cited in this month's Vanity Fair magazine as an "It Girl." She will soon be featured in ads for Versace Jeans and is also filming a role in the next Woody Allen film. She is dating 45-year-old American actor/producer Griffin Dunne, proving once again that young beauties just can't get enough of mediocre looking b-list celebrities twice their age (see Ocasek, Rik).
