TMZ rockets to the top of our list of the top blogs of 2007, bumping Perez "Queen of All Media" Hilton (pictured) from the top spot. TMZ.com is a celebrity gossip and news site owned by Time Warner that launched in 2005. The site broke a slew of high profile stories over the past few years, including Nicole Richie's pregnancy, Britney Spears' divorce, and Mel Gibson's DUI. Michael Richards' racist tirade during a comedy show was first broadcast on TMZ, and gossip fiends were certainly glued to TMZ's constant updates as to the in-or-out-of-jail status of Paris Hilton this past June. While some critics have decried the site's use of what might be considered tabloid journalism, TMZ has certainly found an audience of pop culture junkies who check the site faithfully in search of their daily (or, let's face it, hourly) gossip fix.

Other celeb gossip blogs, including Perez Hilton, Pink is the New Blog, and Defamer, also appear on our top 10 list. Like TMZ, Perez (whose real name is Mario Lavandeira) has been blogging since 2005, earning the ire of many in Hollywood with his catty remarks and illustrations. (He certainly inspires the jealousy of those of us bloggers who would kill to be mentioned in a Fergie song.) Gaming blog Kotaku comes in at #3, while politically charged blogs such as the Huffington Post and Daily Kos pop up at #4 and #8 on our top blog list this year. Tech-focused blogs Engadget and Gizmodo were also popular in 2007, and PostSecret continues its run on our list for the second year in a row.
