Oops, she did it again. Britney Spears is the most popular female of 2000, according to searches by Lycos users.
In fact, Britney dominates 2000 even more than she dominated 1999. Last year she was 50% greater than runner-up Pamela Anderson; this year, she is a whopping 180% higher than Anderson, still runner-up.

MORE FUN: That's four blondes in the top five.
IT'S A MAN'S WORLD: Hip-hop, that is. Seven rappers made the Male Top 20, but the highest female hip-hop artist is Lil' Kim at #36.
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: TV non-bride turned Playboy pinup Darva Conger, now halfway through minute 15.
COMEBACK OF THE YEAR: Celine Dion, who released a best-of album in November 1999 and then announced she was retiring to have children.
HOT IN 1999, NOT SO HOT IN 2000: Heather Graham, Denise Richards, shirtless soccer star Brandi Chastain.
STRANGELY ABSENT: All the popularity of wrestling and a Playboy pictorial couldn't boost Chyna past #31? So much for politics: Hillary Clinton finishes far down the list, with 25% as many searches as Oprah
ONES TO WATCH 2001: Men's magazine favorites Rachael Lee Cook and Tara Reid will star in Josie and the Pussycats? Sarah Michelle Gellar (#21) should return to prominence with starring roles in two big 2001 movies: the live-action Scooby-Doo (she plays Daphne) and James Toback's Harvard Man? FOX football weather babe Jillian Barberie is one Maxim Magazine spread away from stardom... Angelina Jolie (#27) will play Lara Croft in a live-action version of Tomb Raider.
ONES TO WATCH 2000: We can give ourselves a big pat on the back for calling Christina Aguilera, but we didn't realize that Catherine Zeta-Jones would disappear from movie screens. We also whiffed on Natalie Portman, who probably won't be back until Star Wars: Episode Two in 2002.
ADDED BONUS: clubs on Lycos with #5 Christina Aguilera next Tuesday, December 12, at 9pm EST.
Monday we'll feature our fourth list, The Web's Top Fads of 2000. Join us to find out what's up, or rather Whassup!
Note: These rankings reflect all terms entered into the Lycos search engine by users between January 1 and November 30, 2000. Individuals who died prior to 1970 are excluded. All spellings and search variations are included in these totals: for instance, searches for Brittany Spears and Britney Spears pics are counted as searches for Britney Spears.
