Holiday Hotties! December's here. Shall we take a look at what's hot in holiday search terms?

Elf Bowling

They don't come much hotter than this. In one short week elf bowling has gone from nearly nothing to getting almost as many searches as Pam Anderson. What is elf bowling? It's a goofy Java game, promoted (it seems) by a zillion inter-office e-mails. If your friends haven't sent you the URL yet, try the Nstorm site to play the game -- if their servers haven't already crashed. If you like games (incidentally), may I suggest you try our newest partners at Gamesville? My particular favorite so far is the three-way "Big Easy" blackjack.

Sweet Potato Pie

We had a big rush on sweet potato pie queries last week. Pumpkin is still #1 (see bonus list below right) but the yams were a very sporting second. (Note to Dan Quayle: 18% of all searchers spelled it potatoe.)

KayBee Toys

ToysRUs jumped out to an early lead in the holiday search race, but KayBee is suddenly giving them a run for their money. Both stores have been very, very hot the last few weeks. (And Lycos sells toys too, don't you know.)

Amazing Ally

Speaking of toys: Amazing Ally is making a late run at the title of "Miss Christmas Toy 1999." The yakking Barbie-meets-Tamagotchi doll has been getting heavy ad play on TV, and it's working: searches are up 400% in the past three weeks.
