As we promised yesterday, here's a look at the top computer and video game searches from the 2001 holiday season.

It is interesting to note that while Xbox gets the most searches among the three competing video game consoles, the specific video games with the most searches are all Playstation 2 games. Right now the most-searched video games are Grand Theft Auto 3, Metal Gear Solid 2, and WWF Smackdown: Just Bring It - all PS2 games.

That is similar to last year -- the Playstation 2 was the new machine at the time, the one with the most searches, but the games being searched were for older machines like Nintendo 64.

The most popular Xbox game with Lycos users is Halo, while the most popular Gamecube game is Super Smash Brothers Melee.

Another interesting fact: while NFL football simulations are among the most popular video games, they don't get too many searches. Madden 2002 is the most popular of the bunch among Lycos users.

Missing from this list is Tetris. We decided to remove the old standby since the goal of Tetris searches seems to be a downloading the game on the Internet, not purchasing a new version. If had been on this list, Tetris would be #7.
