One to Watch: Good Charlotte
"Slightly snotty pop-punk, delivered in a bratty sneer that's pure rock & roll."
That's how our partners at CD Connection describe Good Charlotte, a band that made waves on our search logs in October.
As late as 1999 Good Charlotte was playing in ice rinks and getting ignored. But then they gave themselves nicknames like "Kid Vicious" and "SickyB," got a deal with Epic records, and put their first album on the streets. The single "Little Things," a tribute to high school nerd misery, got some action on MTV in September.
Searches for Good Charlotte quadrupled between August and October, when the band got as many searches as actress Mira Sorvino, lamp shades, or Star Trek sounds. The group is new enough that their fan pages are still pretty skimpy. But -- another promising sign -- some fans are getting a bit more sophisticated. It looks as if Good Charlotte is a band to watch for 2001.
