The Lycos 50 Daily Report
 The things you're searching for.November 10, 1999

Take Two: Kari Wuhrer

Two months ago we noted that singer/actress Kari Wuhrer was a hot search item. Since then she's shown up on our search logs so often you'd think she was the latest Pokemon critter. So we'll repeat: while Wuhrer hasn't cracked the Lycos 50 yet, she sure looks like a good bet for future fame.

Now here are some other hot terms you've been searching for lately:

Pokedex
Speaking of Pokemon: could the Pokedex be the hot toy of Christmas '99? In the TV series, the Pokedex is a talking gadget that gives out info on the various monsters. Now a real-life toy version of the Pokedex is on the market.

Diwali
Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, is celebrated this month. (For other much-requested Indian terms see our October 21 special, "Hooray for Bollywood!")

Angelina Jolie
Actress Angelina Jolie stars with Denzel Washington in The Bone Collector (#1 at the box office last weekend). She's also the daughter of Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight.

Ohio State Rugby
Oh, shame on you. We've had a rush of searches on Ohio State women's rugby ever since the team got caught posing for a quickie topless snapshot on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Here's the story from the Columbus Dispatch (but don't expect a photo).

    Mystery Terms

    Today's mystery term:

    HVAC

We know this stands for heating, ventilation and air conditioning, but why is it always so popular? Isn't it a rather technical term? Who's looking for it: electricians?

If you can shed some light, please post a note on our boards.

For previous mystery terms, visit the Lycos 50 archives.

    Recent mystery terms explored:

Tuesday's topic ROAST generated duelling responses. On the one hand we have celebrity roasts for boards and the boards; on the other hand we have Thanksgiving boards.

Searches for BLEEK are probably aimed at rapper Malik Cox, aka Memphis Bleek, according to loyal user boards. Mr. Bleek has a new solo album on the market. To read more about him, click here.

LUTHERAN: The very same Jon Reeves notes that the Lutheran church recently buried the hatchet with the Catholic church. Searches on the Vatican are up as well, so it seems we can stamp this one "solved."
