If you've been reading the Lycos 50, you already know that Yu-Gi-Oh! is the big fad for kids in 2002. But if you go to the store and they are all sold out of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and merchandise, what will you buy for that anime-obsessed young boy in your family? Well, there is a second big Japanese toy fad hitting America this Christmas: Beyblade.

Beyblade is a modern twist on that most ancient of kids' toys, the top. Thanks to a television cartoon, the Beyblade toys are connected to a whole mythos involving monsters, energy, and endless battles. But when stripped of all the mythology, a Beyblade toy is really just a simple spinning top.

Kids can customize their own Beyblade tops and then compete to see whose top stays up longest and who can knock the other kid's top over. According to the Beyblade website, "each Beyblade is as unique as its owner, involving the custom assembly of five key parts - the Bit, Attack Ring, Weight Disk, Spin Gear and Blade Base."

The cartoon Beyblade is on the ABC Family network every day at 7:30am, but like Yu-Gi-Oh! the searches on Lycos are primarily for the toys. The tops cost from $12 to $20 each and you can buy them at Lycos Shop.

Beyblade searches began in June and have been climbing ever since. Right now, Beyblade is getting more searches than most other popular toys, including Lego, Transformers, Zoids, and the Game Boy Advance.
