| One to Watch: DHEA |
Could this be the next health pill craze? DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone, if you must know) is a dietary supplement that's alleged to relieve stress, ease your sleep, and generally make you feel keen. (Some enthusiasts go so far as to call it a fountain of youth hormone.) DHEA isn't new, but recent upbeat news reports have put queries on the rise; last week twice as many people searched for DHEA as for melatonin or St. John's Wort. Now let's look at that other great antidepressant, our daily list of hot search topics: |

| Family Values '99 |
Family Values '99 is the latest silly-name rap 'n rock tour, headlined by Lycos 50 member Limp Bizkit. Also playing: Primus and rapper DMX. The tour's been kicking up interest since late September. |

| Elvira |
It's nearly Halloween, and users are asking for this creaky Mistress of the Dark to return from the grave.(While we're on the topic of almost-lifelike creatures, may I recommend the Animation Express Halloween Lineup from our chums at HotWired?) |
| |
| Iwon |
The Iwon website uses the lure of sweepstakes to drive traffic. (Seems to be working.) They boast a daily prize of ten grand and monthly prizes of a cool million dollars. |
| |
| Stargate |
Remember the 1994 movie Stargate with Kurt Russell and the freaky Jaye Davidson? It's now a sci-fi TV series and a role-playing game. |
| |
| Spirituality |
We're not sure why -- a Halloween backlash, maybe? -- but we're seeing upticks in searches for Episcopal, Hebrew, and Buddhism. |

GOUDY: One explanation comes from friendly user boards, who says: "There's an expression in the Bavarian-German dialect which is spelled "Gaudi" and.. means something like great fun or enjoyment." With that spelling in mind, try www.gaudi.com. Genius!
But wait! Other possibilities are at hand. User boards thinks the Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi may be the topic. Both boards and boards came out in favor of the typeface and its designer, Frederic Goudy. ("Relief from the overused Times" font, says Rifmon.) boards suggests Yankee-inspired baseball card queries for old-fashioned Goudy Gum. Even retired sportscaster boards showed up on TV the other night -- but after the query rush started. Well, it takes all kinds of Goudys to make up a world. For now I'm putting my money on the typeface as the key topic.
JUEGOS: Imagine my red face when cheerful reader Robert Bast pointed out that www.juegos.com is home to a well-known competitor. Ah, well -- there's some consolation in knowing that juego can also be loosely translated as "a joke."
