Top Fall TV Searches
September 27, 2007

"Chuck," the new TV show about an awkward computer nerd who unwittingly downloads a server of government data into his brain (you know what they say about opening suspicious emails), is the most searched new fall television series of the week. "Chuck," which debuted on Monday evening, is 17% more popular than Jimmy Smits' new series, "Cane."

The reality show "Kid Nation," our third most searched program, has received a firestorm of criticism since even before its debut. In the series, 40 kids, all under age 15, have been placed in a New Mexico ghost town where they must learn to develop a society of their own. The New Mexico Attorney General is investigating whether the producers have violated child labor laws; some children were injured during the filming of the program and the kids have to engage in difficult manual labor. Of course, all parents signed waivers, but many feel that the show is exploitative and that the kids involved are too young to be going through such hardships.

Other popular TV shows with web users include the CW's "Gossip Girl" and "Reaper." The highly anticipated "Grey's Anatomy" spin-off, "Private Practice," appears as the ninth most searched series, while NBC's much-hyped "Bionic Woman" comes in at #10 this week. "Bionic Woman," despite not being as high in search activity, was a big ratings winner on Wednesday night, beating "Private Practice" in the coveted 18-49 demographic.

The top ten most searched new fall TV series this week are:

  4. Gossip Girl
