| Does Autumn Cause Gaming? |
Summer ends and the kids run inside to electronic games, or so it seems. We've seen a rise in game queries recently, with two titles rising especially quickly. So let's take a gander at... |
TODAY'S HOTTIES |
|
| |
| GTA |
GTA stands for Grand Theft Auto, a PC game which can be played over the Internet. Your goal is to rise through the ranks of the crime underground, progressing from auto theft to drug smuggling, hijacking, murder, and double parking. The demo for the new Grand Theft Auto 2 is supposed to hit the Web today -- hence the multiple queries. More info? Try Jake's Grand Theft Auto Page. |

| Shadowman |
GTA a tad too cheery for you? Try Shadowman. The new Nintendo game is the story of "Mike LeRoi, English Literature graduate turned hired assassin," and it seems designed to tweak parents: tales of the walking dead, voodoo necklaces made with human body parts, and plenty of wild gunnery. For more details, see the review on World 64. For other Nintendo artillery pieces we suggest the Nintendo Shooters Network. Now for a few non-gaming hotties... |

| MLM |
MLM is multi-level marketing for you newcomers. ("Multi-level" refers to the notion that each salesperson recruits other salespeople and gets a cut of their sales; those new salespeople recruit yet more salespeople, and so on.) Amway is a famous MLM system, and the new Amway-related company Quixtar has been getting plenty of action the past two months. That may explain the rise in traffic. You can read more at the MLM newsgroup. |

| TNN |
Somebody at The Nashville Network is in tune with the Internet audience. TNN has cleverly branched out from country music and Dukes of Hazzard reruns into pro wrassling and Nascar -- two very popular topics on the Net. Result: plenty of new searches for TNN.
As a side note, we've also seen a small rise in searches for the TNN program Shadetree Mechanic, a kind of countrified Car Talk.

| Early Warning: VITAMIN C |
Searches are creeping upward for Vitamin C. That's the musical stage name of singer Colleen Fitzpatrick, formerly frontwoman for the band Eve's Plum. Ms. C is out on her own now and seems unafraid to bare her abdomen as she sings. (Perhaps that'll tear those kids away from the computer games.) In October she tours with boy group 98 Degrees behind her new self-titled album. |
