We'll be the first to tell you that the Internet isn't just for the young. Nonetheless, a quick look at the Lycos 50 will show you how important teenagers are when it comes to Internet searches.
After all, teen favorites like Britney Spears and 'N Sync are always popular on Lycos. Teenage girls put young actors like Josh Hartnett and Vin Diesel into the Lycos 50 this summer. High school topics like the periodic table and science fair projects show up each fall. Prom dresses and prom hairstyles show up each spring.
But what about teenagers who are the searchees, not the searchers? We decided to take a look at the top teenagers searched on Lycos last week. We counted everyone between the age of 13 and 19, and there's definitely a face you might expect topping the list.
If you are looking for someone who isn't here, be mindful that a lot of young celebrities don't show up on this list because they missed the cut by one year. Anna Kournikova, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, and Jessica Simpson are all 20 years old. Beyonce Knowles from hot R&B trio Destiny's Child is included, but she actually turned 20 on Tuesday.
We included the Olsen Twins together because that's how most people search for them. When they are searched separately, strangely enough, Ashley Olsen is consistently twice as popular as her sister Mary-Kate even though the two look basically the same.
Here are last week's top teens:
1) singer Britney Spears
2) actress Jessica Biel
3) actress Kirsten Dunst
4) singer Aaron Carter
5) rapper Lil' Bow Wow
6) actresses The Olsen Twins
7) singer Mandy Moore
8) Little leaguer Danny Almonte
9) singer Michelle Branch
10) singer Beyonce Knowles
11) Prince William
12) rapper Lil' Romeo
13) tennis star Andy Roddick
14) singer LeAnn Rimes
15) tennis star Jelena Dokic
16) actor Ryan Merriman
17) actress Lacey Chabert
18) actress Anne Hathaway
19) singer Samantha Mumba
20) actor Brad Renfro
Some teens who were hot earlier in the year but have cooled off include actresses Anna Paquin and Mila Kunis, plus rapper Lil' Zane.
