Hackers, Hurricanes and Daisy's Return |
You seem to have heard the news reports about the hackers busting into HotMail, since we've had a rush of searches on the term. (The HotMail home page says they "experienced service issues" which are now fixed up.) These things happen, of course, and we wish MSN the best. But may we also suggest you try our own free e-mail system, MailCity?
Enough with the snide stuff. On to... |
Today's Hotties |
|
| |
| Fuentes |
Daisy Fuentes is hot again. The bombshell broadcaster has just launched her own official website. She's ditched America's Funniest Home Videos, but she's also just made some return appearances on MTV, which may be helping raise her profile. See our guide to Ms. Fuentes or the Daisy Fuentes newsgroup. |

| Bandit |
We're guessing the rise in bandit searches is due to the popularity of the Skoal Bandit race car, driven by Ken Schrader. Truth be told, he hasn't had a blockbuster season, but what else could it be? It seems unlikely that baseball's Quad City River Bandits (class A) are the hot topic, even if they are in a playoff battle with the rival Burlington Bees. Can their following be THAT strong? Give us a hint at the boards. |

| Dennis |
Hurricane Dennis continues to be a hot topic, though the fever seems about to peak. You may want to check our latest Dennis news reports for details. If you'd rather track his path, see our weather map. |

| Reiki |
Haven't heard of Reiki? The Reiki International Center says it's "a non-physical healing energy made up of life force energy that is guided by the Higher Intelligence." (Does that sound a bit like "experiencing service issues"?) You can read more in the center's Reiki FAQ. Or you can visit our clubs or follow the lively controversy on our boards message board. |

| Early Warning |
Georgetown University can't turn out THAT many rock bands. Vertical Horizon is one such, and it seems to be on the rise. The band features two Hoyas on guitar, and their official website says their influences include both Jimi Hendrix and James Taylor. They're on the college circuit this fall, including trips to Furman, Lehigh and Appalachian State -- keep an eye peeled.
Of course, the searches we're seeing could also be for Vertical Horizon, the California maker of MP3 equipment. (See the Wired News article here.) Take your pick -- either way you've been forewarned.

| And Finally... |
You read it here first months ago: Christina Aguilera is getting ever hotter. She just sang up a storm on UPN's L'Oreal's Summer Music Mania '99 alongside Britney Spears and 98 Degrees. And though she is a former Mouseketeer, her hit "Genie in a Bottle" is now a little too racy for Disney Radio -- they've insisted she change a few lyrics before they'll play the thing. That's a sure sign of something, anyway.
