The Mysterious Baha Men Who are the Baha Men, and why are they showing up on our search logs?
Here's what we know: we're seeing erratic user queries for "Baha Men" lately: hundreds one week, hardly any the next. Why so erratic? Do they have a hit song out? Are we missing something?
A Hotbot advanced search shows they're a musical group of some kind. That leads us to the usually-reliable Lycos Music page, which says only that the Baha Men "aim to blow you away with Soca-laced Caribbean grooves." That's good as far as it goes; hey, who doesn't like Soca-laced grooves? Meanwhile a search of our excellent RollingStone.com database turns up zero on the Baha Men. They seem to be flying below radar.
We do know that boy group Hanson successfully covered their tune "Back to the Island" years ago. And we see that the Baha Men have another hit called "Gin and Coconut Water" -- but we haven't had much luck digging up info on that online.
An actual search for "gin and coconut water" turns up results like the gripping "Potassium in Foods" table. A modified search for just "coconut water" turns up a lot of strange recipes. It's odd.
So what we have today is a semi-tip: we think the band Baha Men is getting hot. Or maybe not. They're getting something, anyway.
And if you know more about them, drop us a line on our boards message board, won't you?
