Time to take another look at one of our favorite subjects, the bottom feeders. Not the absolute bottom, which consists of things which get just one or two searches in a week, but the bottom of the list of terms which are searched for on a regular basis.
If you want to check out some bottom feeders from the past, we've covered this area three times before:
March 2000
November 2000
April 2001
Here are a few interesting queries - some news-driven, some nostalgic, and some just out of the ordinary - which received four or five searches per day last week.
Mix some cubes of bread with some eggs, milk, and spices, and voila, you have bread pudding. Lycos Recipes has all kinds of interesting bread puddings including this apple bourbon bread pudding and this sage and onion bread pudding.
Trudi Chase is the author of the popular book When the Rabbit Howls, the true story of Chase's battle with multiple personality disorder. Chase's 92 different personalities include Mean Joe, a black man who defends and protects the others; Sister Mary Catherine, who tries to repress all thoughts of sexuality; and Rabbit, a child without language who howls with the memory of being raped at the age of 2. You can buy the book through our relationship with Barnes and Noble.
Evil Dead is one of the great cult classic horror movies of all time, and perhaps the first real horror-comedy. It spawned two sequels that also starred Bruce Campbell as Ash, the man who fights the zombies. The role of zombie guts was played by creamed corn, dyed green. Evil Dead director Sam Raimi went on to produce Hercules and Xena and is directing next year's eagerly anticipated Spiderman film.
If you like the Internet, you'll love new Internet2, now with more fiber. Actually, Internet2 is not a new network, but rather a non-profit consortium working to create technologies to further the Internet in the future -- for example, more efficient voice communication over the Web. Internet2 consists of over 180 universities working in partnership with industry and government.
All I have to say to Wayne Newton is "Danke schoen, darling, danke schoen. Thank you for all the joy and pain?"
Speaking of music, we still get a few searches each week for the 60's folk group Simon and Garfunkel. Paul Simon on his own receives six times as many searches as the duo; Art Garfunkel receives hardly any searches on his own.
Maybe it is the 20th anniversary of MTV that has renewed interest in that classic 80's chestnut, "We Are The World." Luckily for those searching, Lycos Music has downloads.
Could you imagine a modern version of the song, with Faith Hill singing alongside Britney Spears singing alongside Fred Durst? It would have to have a rap component of course, P. Diddy would have to be there to say "uh" a few times, and like in 1984 Dan Aykroyd would need to show up for moral support.
I have no idea what is up with the people who search each week for ticklish celebrities. Maybe they are looking for this guy.
Finally, for the few Lycos users each day who request math formulas, we present our first annual Lycos 50 math formula rundown.
2x+4y=3z
d=r*t
obp=(h+bb)/(ab+bb+sf)
(Tony Muser, that last one's for you.)
MONDAY: Some folks that aren't doing so well.
