Hot Topic: Ian Thorpe Ian Thorpe is the current swimming sensation in Australia, where swimming is generally considered a religious experience with chlorine added. He's successful enough to have earned the nickname The Thorpedo; even his shoe size is famous. He's an Aussie favorite for this summer's Sydney Olympics. And the boy is only 17. Despite his tender age Thorpe already holds world records in the 400 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 4x200 free relay and 200 freestyle short course. After all that paddling his body fat is low and the hunk factor is high -- which, clubs, never hurts. Right now Thorpe is the only Olympian really jumping out of our search logs (discouting Marion Jones, a fine athlete who is also featured on a current Nike teevee ad blitz). The name "Ian Thorpe" got as many queries last week as Navy Seals, palm reading, and late Beatle John Lennon. That's not exactly Jennifer Lopez territory, but then the Olympics are still six weeks away.
