Forget George W.: if our search logs are any proof, the real winner of Campaign 2000 is George P. Bush.
Well, the George Bush vs. George W. Bush thing is already confusing, so why not toss another George Bush into the mix? This George Bush is George W.'s nephew, son of Florida governor Jeb Bush, and grandson of that other George Bush.
George P's mother, Columba, was born in Mexico, and as a result the boy has a touch of Ricky Martin. People magazine has him on one of their "sexiest men" lists, it seems, and USA Today calls him "a major hottie." Want proof? Dig this photo of him posing with the Orange County Young Republicans.
George P. is supposed to start law school this fall, but for now the George W. campaign is pushing him into the spotlight. He even has a "public service" piece in a recent Newsweek (in which he admits calling the former U.S. president "Gampy"). And he's speaking at the GOP convention Thursday night.
Web users love the guy: search queries for George Prescott Bush are up 1100% since June 1st. (He's rising almost as fast as Russell Crowe after Gladiator.) Last week George P. got 32% as many queries as candidate George W.
For that matter, last week George P. got 50% as many queries as Democratic candidate Al Gore. Hey, are the Republicans running the wrong candidate? Not quite: at 24 George P. is still 11 years too young to be president.
