It's summertime and the weather is fine. The Lycos 50 is taking a vacation (and enjoying reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) so we bring you "One Year Ago on the Lycos 50."

While this year Harry Potter fever is sweeping the globe, last year at this time sporting events were huge on the Lycos 50. Wimbledon, the Tour de France, and the World Cup all gained search interest. Tennis tournament Wimbledon was up 166%, while the bicycle race Tour de France was up 200%. The 2006 FIFA World Cup match between the Italians and the French drove the World Cup to #16. Also topping the list were NFL Football, Baseball, Golf, NBA Basketball, and even Pilates.

The Lycos 50 for the past week includes Harry Potter and star Emma Watson in the top half of the list, with only two sports items making the list - Golf at #31 and Anna Kournikova at #43. Thanks to the release of the seventh and final book of the Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (and hordes of impatient fans searching for spoilers), Harry Potter is at #12 on the list. Emma Watson, who plays Hermione Granger, lands at #10, beating out screen beauties Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan.
