Oddly Hot Vacation Spot:
Dewey Beach, Delaware
When you think of popular vacation destinations on Lycos, you probably think of the usual suspects: Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Cancun. So why have we been receiving so many searches for Dewey Beach?
Dewey Beach is a one mile long tourist destination on the scenic Delaware coastline. It lies between the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Rehobeth Bay on the west. It is not the beachfront that is getting Dewey Beach attention, however; it's the nightlife.
Dewey Beach is enjoying its day in the sun thanks to a July 5 article in USA Today which labeled it as "spring break for adults." The article described the town as a haven for all kinds of naughty behavior, from heavy drinking to, shall we say, "meeting new friends."
So Dewey Beach is a weekend frat house regression for post-collegiate professionals. 25,000 single professionals, mostly from the Washington D.C. area, swell the town of Dewey Beach each weekend. From the looks of things a lot of Lycos users wish to be among them.
