One to Watch: Papa Roach The latest band to scuttle up our traffic logs: Papa Roach.
Papa Roach is an old-fashioned garage band from Vacaville, California. They've been around since 1993 but just hit the big time when they signed a record deal with Dreamworks.
Their current album, Infest, seems to be a smash. Rollingstone.Com describes the title tune as "neck-snapping rap-rock thrash and a chorus of insidiously catchy police-siren guitars." Tony Bennett it ain't, but the kids seem to like it.
Last week, in fact, Papa Roach got as many searches as 'N Sync hottie Justin Timberlake and more than Luther "I Am Not Dead" Vandross. Web users searched for Papa Roach six times as often as they searched for cockroaches (the insects).
Compare that to the classic band The Beatles, who outdrew beetles (the insects) by only 2-1. In a straight battle of the bands, Papa Roach beat the Beatles by a search ratio of 3-2.
For more on the boys in the band, see the sales shop at Barnes & Noble or download some tunes with Lycos Music.
