It's Grillin' Time
Summertime, and thoughts turn to slabs of beautiful, burning meat. Except for vegetarians, of course, who have thoughts of beautiful, burning eggplants. Either way, we thought we would take a look at how grilling searches shape up on Lycos.
Grill searches start to rise in February and actually peak in April. They've been dropping a little bit each week since then. Searches for barbeque, however, don't start growing until about March, and are peaking now. So I guess people look into purchasing their grills in the springtime, but the grilling doesn't really get going until summer. Makes some sense when you think about it.
Other fun facts: The phrase BBQ recipes gets about 25 percent as many searches as simply the word BBQ. The phrase BBQ is also about 25 percent more popular than the phrase barbeque. Gas grills receive about four times as many searches as charcoal grills.
The most popular grill brand, by far, is Weber Grills, followed by the George Foreman Grill. Foreman grills actually peaked right before Christmas, when they were a hot gift item. Behind these two brands come Sunbeam Grills and Holland Grills.
