We've all heard about the glories of June weddings.
We wondered if the June wedding tradition is reflected online: do wedding searches go up in June? Here's a look at selected wedding-related terms and their popularity last week versus the first week in May -- a span of six weeks.
Conclusion: traffic up slightly but not dramatically.
What does seem to be up around 50% are the last-minute items: wedding favors, wedding invitations (if you're the type to put them off) and honeymoon details.
On the other hand, smart brides and grooms seem to have the wedding cakes and bachelor parties ordered well in advance. (There are priorities to these things, after all.) Looking back we can see a huge spike in wedding cake queries on the week of March 5th, and a similar spike in bachelor parties the first week of May.
Does that mean most wedding cakes are ordered three months ahead, and most bachelor parties one month in advance? It's an interesting notion.
As for divorce, well, it's up and down. Since January 1 it seems to be on a kind of bell curve that peaked during the first two weeks of April. (Tax-time stress, perhaps?) But it's nice to think, isn't it, that maybe interest in divorce fades a little during wedding season?
