So who do you like better: mom or dad?
If you're like most people, you like mom 2.2 times as much as dad. At least, that's the ratio of Mother's Day vs. Father's Day searches we've seen from Web users.
This week Father's Day ranks #21 on the Lycos 50, just below the Bible and just above marijuana. (Make of that what you will.) Mother's Day, the same week before the holiday, ranked #13 -- just below Pamela Anderson. (Make of that what you will.) Mother's Day hit #2 the next week, a strong showing that Father's Day will be hard-pressed to match.
We've compared some specific Father's Day searches against Mother's Day searches for the same pre-holiday period last month. Here are the search ratios we found:
2.45 - 1: Mother's Day gifts vs. Father's Day gifts
2.02 - 1: Mother's Day poems vs. Father's Day poems
2.51 - 1: Mother's Day cards vs. Father's Day cards
1.97 - 1: Mother's Day crafts vs. Father's Day crafts
1 - 1.44: Mother's Day sermons vs. Father's Day sermons
That's right: in every topic moms enjoyed about a 2-1 margin over dads, EXCEPT in sermons. Nearly one and a half people (ministers, we presume) searched for a Father's Day sermon for every one that requested a Mother's Day sermon.
Make of THAT what you will. But we think some dads must be in hot water.
