Rumors abound that Al Gore may announce his candidacy for the 2008 presidential election. An Inconvenient Truth, which won two 2007 Academy Awards, increased Al Gore's popularity significantly. Though Gore has said in the past that he had no plans to run for president again, he has also said that he "[hasn't] completely ruled it out." Certainly, the hopes of many Gore supporters probably skyrocketed on the evening of the Academy Awards when in a rehearsed bit, he seemed to be announcing his candidacy only to be drowned out by music.

The movie Knocked Up increased 69%. The Judd Apatow comedy has become a monstrous summer hit, but has also ignited political debate among movie fans. The premise of the movie features Katherine Heigl's character, Allison, becoming pregnant after a one-night stand with Seth Rogan's Ben. Allison is an intelligent and gorgeous woman while Ben is a crass slacker. Many have claimed that the film did not present abortion as a viable option and that it actually takes a very conservative viewpoint. So while the film continues to cash in at the box office, this point of debate continues to make waves online.
