Ms. Harding seems to have a knack for keeping herself sizzling in the brain-pan of the commonwealth. User queries for her have remained remarkably steady since we started the Lycos 50 last September.
And that was well before her latest domestic squabble (and before yet another appearance with Larry King). Last week the phrase "Tonya Harding" got almost exactly as many searches as "Marilyn Monroe," "Jehovah's Witnesses," or "Pluto." A movie star, a religion, and an entire planet -- that's pretty heady company.
Of course some credit is due the famous wedding video, amateur footage shot by her and former hubby Jeff Stone (nee Gillooly) and eventually bootlegged for worldwide distibution via the Internet. But only about one in five Harding searchers includes "wedding" or "video" in their query; most people just look for Tonya.
