Hot Topic: Amy Smart
Summer must be here: the hot-weather movie babes are racing up the search logs.
This week we noticed a 500% rise in searches for actress Amy Smart. She's one of the co-stars of Road Trip, the bawdy teen flick that wants to be this year's American Pie.
Smart got her break playing the brainy girlfriend to James Van der Beek's quarterback in the 1999 movie Varsity Blues. At the time the chin-heavy Van Der Beek was the heartthrob du jour, but last week Smart bested him in user queries by a whopping 20-1 ratio. Now, that's turning the tables. Perhaps the fact that Road Trip features Smart sans blouse has something to do with it.
Last year Smart also began a recurring role on the TV show Felicity and was in the oddball flick Outside Providence. That's three films and a TV show in a little over a year -- no wonder searches are up. She seems to be one to watch for the future.
