Search Hottie: A 'Saur Named Sue Sometimes we look for the wrong thing in our Web search logs.
While scanning last week's Lycos search logs for the big-budget Disney movie Dinosaur we kept running into another search: Sue the Dinosaur. First we figured she must be a lizardy love interest from the movie -- hey, you know Disney -- but then we found out she's the real item.
Sue went on display in Chicago this week, 65 million years after she dropped dead in what is now South Dakota. She was discovered in 1990, and after years of legal wrangling she went for $8.4 million at auction in 1997. (Not to be confused with that other dinosaur auction co-hosted by Lycos this year.) Sue was purchased by Chicago's Field Museum, where she went on display last Wednesday in all her reconstructed glory. And that's when everyone started looking for her online.
Ironically (as mentioned yesterday), searches for Dinosaur the movie were pretty weak. If you're one who's looking for more on Tyrannosaurus Sue, may we suggest this excellent piece from our partners at InfoPlease? Thank you.
