Lycos 50: Katie, Lindsay & Anna's Mother
May 12, 2008

With Tom Cruise making a relatively uneventful appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show last week and rumors of Katie Holmes hitting Broadway, Katie comes in at #1 on the Lycos 50 list this week. According to PR experts, Tom Cruise's interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, finally gave the Cruise clan some good exposure. Unlike his jumping appearance on Winfrey's show in 2005, this time Cruise was serious, thoughtful and self-contained. Elsewhere, Holmes is rumored to be making her Broadway debut in Arthur Miller's post-World War II family drama All My Sons.

Lindsay Lohan rises to #22 this week following rumors she's been dropped from two films, Ye Old Times, a romantic comedy with Jack Black and The Manson Girls, a drama about the Charles Manson family. On top of that, Lohan was recently accused by Columbia University student Masha Markova of stealing an $11,000 blond mink coat during a private party. Lohan's rep says she was dropped from the films because of scheduling conflicts and the allegations of theft are totally false.

Anna Nicole Smith comes in at #29 this week after reports of her mother suing celebrity news site TMZ.com . Virgie Arthur claims Howard K. Stern and others created a fictitious story about her daughter in order to damage any chance of the notorious granny getting custody of granddaughter Dannielynn. The lawsuit stems from a story titled "Virgie Has Son with Her Stepbrother" published last April on TMZ.com. "Their goal was simple and straightforward, to 'destroy' anyone who was opposed to Howard K. Stern or his interest," the lawsuit said. Defendants named in the lawsuit include TMZ managing editor, Harvey Levin, Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, Stern's sister Bonnie Stern, along with other celebrity bloggers.
