With the weather turning warm and the trees turning green, Survivor isn't the only thing America is watching. We're also watching a lot of birds.
After staying stable for the last nine months, Birdwatching searches have grown roughly 75 percent per week over the past three weeks. Lycos has a number of links online to help you go out and find your favorite red-bellied warbler offline, although remember we don't recommend spending more than an hour at a time away from your computer and the Lycos Network.
Anyway, we thought this would offer us a good chance to take a look at the top birds online. This list is from last week. We didn't edit it, so those roadrunner searches could be related to Wile E. Coyote's favorite prey, although we did adjust turkey searches to take into account searches for the country.

What about some other bird-related searches we're seeing these days? Well, the novel To Kill a Mockingbird garners huge interest from students. Last week it received as many searches as model Tyra Banks.
Mockingbird seems to be more popular at the end of the year, with searches peaking in April. Other books peak earlier in the year; The Scarlet Letter, for example, peaks in October.
It's no "Lady Marmalade" but we see some searches each week for the song "I'm Like a Bird" by Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado. Nelly doesn't reach the heights of Britney and Christina, but she's been one of the breakout stars of the year, going from no searches in mid-2000 to a peak higher than #3 teen pop queen Mandy Moore. You can check out her "I'm Like a Bird" video at Lycos Music.
Finally, Larry Bird gets about three times as many searches as Big Bird, but only one-third as many searches as Magic Johnson and a measly two percent as many searches as Michael "I'm 99.9 percent sure I'm not making a comeback" Jordan.
TOMORROW: The new Lycos 50.
