Movers & Shakers: Did Keith Richards snort his dad?
April 11, 2007

The director of "A Christmas Story," which gained 800% this week, passed away in a car crash on the Pacific Coast Highway. The director, Bob Clark, was driving with his 22-year-old son in Pacific Palisades when they were hit by a sports utility vehicle. The driver of the other car was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, and both Clark and his son were killed.

Another film, "Grindhouse", also demonstrated a significant gain this week. "Grindhouse" is a double feature directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez and stars Rose McGowan and Rosario Dawson. Despite the critical buzz surrounding the movie, it actually turned out to be something of a failure at the box office, coming in fourth place and making a measly $11.6 million in its opening weekend. The Will Ferrell comedy, "Blades of Glory," continued to dominate in first place. It has been mentioned that part of the movie's failure may be due to the double feature format; some audience members reportedly left halfway through, thinking that the film was already over. Never let it be said that American movie goers are particularly intelligent.

Keith Richards, who we are SO looking forward to seeing in "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End," gained 400% this week. Keith Richards created quite a stir last week when he announced that he had snorted his father's ashes with cocaine. He said to a British magazine, "He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared. He went down pretty well and I'm still alive." The public was aghast at Richards' claim...until he admitted that it was just a joke.
