Antonella Barba has finally been pushed from her position as #1 on the Lycos 50 by our old favorites, poker and MySpace. MySpace has launched a section dedicated to the 2008 presidential election in which users can read candidates' blogs, watch videos, and link candidates to their friends lists. Similarly, YouTube is allowing candidates to feature their own video channels. Ten candidates have created MySpace profiles, including Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, John McCain, and Rudy Giuliani. Young people have been notoriously lax about showing up for the polls on election day; it will be interesting to see whether the candiates' campaigning on popular sites like MySpace and YouTube will increase voter turn-out. (For the record, Barack Obama seems to have a lot more MySpace friends than I do. This is among the many reasons as to why I probably would not be a good presidential candidate.)

Diets have popped up at #29. With spring finally in the air, people are turning their attention to shrinking their waistlines in order to fit back into cute summer clothes. I have actually forced myself to go jogging a few times over the past couple of weeks, which made me feel like the fittest, most athletic person in the world (even though I had previously not exercised for about six months). In fact, the very act of wearing stretchy pants with a racing stripe - even while sitting on the couch and watching TV - qualifies as a pretty intense workout in my book.
