Hot Topic: Amelia Earhart March is Women's History Month, but you wouldn't know it so far by our search logs.
Unlike Black History Month, which saw major searches throughout February for people like Rosa Parks and Langston Hughes, Women's History Month just hasn't generated a lot of traffic. So far, that is -- perhaps that will change this week.
One famous women IS sharply up in the past week: Amelia Earhart, the early 20th-century aviatrix. Earhart was the second person (after Charles Lindbergh) to fly over the Atlantic Ocean solo, and the first person to solo the Pacific from Hawaii to California. Nowadays she's perhaps better known for her famous disappearance during an attempted round-the-world flight in 1937.
Other women who seem to have risen slightly in the past week: Hellen Keller, Joan of Arc, poet Sylvia Plath and Princess Diana.
Odd note: Eleanor Roosevelt was hot in mid-February (for President's Day, maybe?) but actually took a big drop in the last two weeks -- at just the same time Amelia Earhart was moving up
