Spring is officially on the way. Want proof? Look at some of the fastest-rising queries of the last two weeks:
LAWN. We checked our past logs: this term took a dive last October and has been as dormant as the front yard grass ever since. Suddenly two weeks ago it came back. Fertilizer, anyone?
STROLLERS. The hottest queries: jogging strollers and double strollers. Hottest brand names: Graco and MacLaren.
GRILL. This one fell off the charts almost immediately after Labor Day last September. (But March still seems a little early to be thinking barbecue, doesn't it?)
PATIO was nowheresville in February, but as of March 1 the topic is hot. Perhaps this query boom is from folks in the southern states where spring comes early? (Or maybe these are St. Patrick's Day revellers looking for that gag about Paddy O'Furniture.)
GARDENING. No surprise here. The top co-queries, in order: flowers, roses, plants, trees, and herbs.
IRRIGATION. We don't know who exactly is searching for this term. Presumably homeowners would say sprinklers rather than irrigation. Can we conclude, then, that farmers are turning to the Web for information instead of to the old reliable county extension agent?
Of course, this could just be a rise in searches from those trendy Californians.
