One to Watch: Mobile Melodies Wouldn't you like your mobile phone to play the theme from "Scooby Doo"? How about the Village People's "YMCA"? Plenty of people would like that, it seems, because we're seeing a steady rise in searches for mobile melodies. The Mobile Melodies web page, for instance, gives you your choice of tunes for Ericsson, Nokia, or Siemens phones. You program the phone yourself by punching in the tune with your keypad -- the site gives you all the notes in a complicated system of numbers and letters. Among the choices: AC/DC's "Highway to Hell," themes from "Hawaii Five-0" and "Hogan's Heroes," REM's "Shiny Happy People," and (as they say at K-Tel) many, many more. We first noticed mobile melodies queries in early December, and the searches have doubled in volume every few weeks since then. Given the popularity of mobile phones, this looks like a hit idea.
