Charlie Brown vs. Foxy Brown
A Lycos 50 Comparison

The retirement of "Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz seems like a good moment to check how popular comic characters are online. So we took last week's search logs and compared some famous cartoon characters to other similar-sounding terms.

The results of these head-to-head contests are below. Read this list just like election results; the percentages show the amount of search "votes" for the entrants in each two-person race. Ready? Begin.

Charlie Brown: 23%

Snoopy: 65%

Scooby Doo: 69%

Archie: 28%

Tarzan: 62%

Dilbert: 45%

Batman: 86%

Bugs Bunny: 66%

Garfield: 55%

Betty Boop: 62%

Calvin & Hobbes: 30%

Superman: 16%

Spiderman: 56%

Mickey Mouse: 93%

Donald Duck: 59%

Foxy Brown: 77%

Snoop Dogg: 35%

Voodoo: 31%

Anarchy: 72%

Tarkan: 38%

Ebert: 55%

Bathtubs: 14%

Buff Bagwell: 34%

Garter Belts: 45%

Betty Crocker: 38%

Calvin Klein: 70%

Supermodels: 84%

Spinach Dip: 44%

Mickey Rourke: 7%

Donald Trump: 41%

Poor Charlie Brown: second place again.

While it's no shock to see Foxy Brown get more searches than Charlie Brown, it's somehow comforting to see Snoopy outpoll Snoop Dogg. Ditto for voodoo and Scooby Doo, although Scooby's popularity is somewhat frightening in itself.

In other races, Superman got clobbered by supermodels, Spiderman narrowly topped spinach dip, Bugs Bunny easily handled pro wrestler Buff Bagwell, and anarchy reigned over Archie, Jughead and the gang. The most surprising result? Film critic Roger Ebert beat cubicle icon Dilbert by a 55-45 margin.

And finally: Donald Trump may want to think twice about a run for president, considering he's getting outpolled online by Donald Duck.
